March 1, 2025 marks the epic return of Cultural Night, and this year’s theme is WOZA—a Zulu word that, in slang, serves as an invitation to have fun and enjoy life together. This year, we’re celebrating the vibrancy, joy, and sense of community associated with African culture like never before, and we invite you to join us in this unforgettable celebration! The event will be held in La Sala de Puerto Rico and features two exciting parts: a cultural showcase with food and performances starting at 4pm, seamlessly flowing into an after-party at 9pm. From our powerful keynote speech and student performances to our vibrant fashion show and a wide array of African cuisine, WOZA promises a night filled with fun, connection, and unforgettable moments.Don’t miss a single beat. Saturday, March 1, 2025 Thomas Tull Concert Hall Edward and Joyce Linde Music BuidingMilestones — The influences of Miles Davis MIT Festival Jazz Ensemble Frederick Harris, Jr., Music Director Evan Ziporyn, clarinet & EWIOn the cusp of the Miles Davis centennial in 2026, the MIT Festival Jazz Ensemble explores the vast influences of Miles Davis’ work as a trumpeter, composer, and bandleader that redefined jazz again and again. Music from Birth of the Cool through Tutu will be featured along with new music inspired by Davis’ groundbreaking legacy. This concert is a collaboration with Prof. Evan Ziporyn’s “Music of Miles Davis” 21M.128 MIT course offered this spring.This project is presented as part of Artfinity, an Institute-sponsored event celebrating creativity and community at MIT.
