Event Format: Classic jam, just DJs and open dance floor DJs: DJ GI JOE and DJ Safire Admission: Free!Imobilare is hosting a stress-free, fun, and vibe-filled jam for breakers, hip-hop freestyle dancers, hip-hop lovers, and people interested in hip-hop music and culture, in MIT’s backyard. The jam will showcase Greater Boston’s breakdance and hip-hop freestyle flavor as well as fire hip-hop music from two legendary DJs. We hope to spark or further MIT students’ and community members’ interest in hip-hop culture, music, and freestyle street dance.MIT's motto is “mens et manus” (Mind and Hand in latin) since MIT tries to develop knowledge and character through mental and hands-on learning. Freestyle dancing combines aspects of learning in a mental and physical capacity, but your own style and how you present your skill comes from your soul. Thus the MIT jam being Mind, Hand, and Soul.Breaking and hip-hop freestyle are the two most prevalent street dance forms at MIT, and hip-hop freestyle was birthed out of breaking, so we center these two street dance forms and communities at the end of a month-long period of events celebrating hip-hop culture.
