ICEO Community Dialogues: Constructive Disagreements

Thu Apr 25, 2024 12:00–1:00 PM

Description

Please join us for a dialogue about “Constructive Disagreements” on Thursday, April 25, 12-1pm. Registrants will be sent a short reading approximately one week prior to the event to provide context and framing for the dialogue. Participants will be asked to think critically about what it means to engage others in conversation without the goal of winning, what’s at stake if we don’t listen to understand, and the value of acknowledging emotions to build trust and empathy. The ICEO Community Dialogues is a monthly series that supports inclusion and belonging at MIT. These facilitated conversations serve as a forum for community members to learn from each other and their shared experiences. Each dialogue is a chance to explore assumptions and have candid conversations about issues that impact us as a community.Outcomes:Opportunities for all MIT community members to “come as they are” and gather, listen, share, and reflect Conversations where curiosity, openness, respect, and belonging are modeled Connections across a diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, identities, and experiencesThis virtual event is open to all MIT community members. We are committed to making this event fully accessible to everyone who wants to attend. Please let us know if there is anything you need to participate fully in this event by emailing vulfp@mit.edu.
